First grade at St. James is an exciting time in the lives of our students. The first grade classes are self-contained with a small number of students which ensures more one-on-one attention from the teachers. First grade offers a variety of teaching methods incorporated with creative, thematic units. Learning is enhanced through the use of centers and hands-on activities.
Students take part in a well-rounded core curriculum as well as engaging enrichments during the day. As a first grade teacher we want our students to leave us feeling loved, and to have the confidence to know that they can and will succeed.
