Reading and Math Center

The Reading and Math Center is a program available to students at St. James. The purpose of the Reading and Math Center is twofold: 1) to provide supplemental reading and math instruction to those students who need individualized attention; and, 2) to expand upon the reading and math instruction for those students who demonstrate proficiency above the classroom level of instruction. Student participation is initiated by teacher recommendation and individual reading and math programs are planned to meet the student's needs. The Center's teacher confers regularly with each student's teacher. The Center teacher also shares and interprets each student's progress with the classroom teacher and suggests ideas, materials, and techniques which can be used effectively with the students who participate in the program.
